Sources of Income/Revenue
I started putting money into these soon as I got my first paycheck doing support work in an aged-care facility. I started at this job in July 15, 2026. When I first started, I did not like it, thinking that janitorial work was below me. I would prefer to do web development work, but I haven't been employed in that field since 2019. I took on call center work, but hated it and never lasted more than six months. Because I was miserable, I bought things that I don't really need just to feel good about myself. I didn't have any savings thinking that I'd start one soon as I get a raise. That never happened.
I did UberEats deliveries in-between jobs. It doesn't pay much, but I was able to get a good workout, explore Melbourne, and got the idea for a youtube channel. I thought that shooting video when I'm doing food deliveries would bring revenue as I build an audience that compounds over time.
Work as Janitor
I play tennis regularly, and one of the Filipino friends worked in aged-care. She often mentioned that they need cleaners and prefer to hire pinoy. As income from ubereats deliveries wasn't reliable, I decided to give it a try. I'd work for a few months or until I can get a better job or get the youtube revenue up to where I can support myself.
I remember watching the movie Breakfast Club. There was a Janitor in that movie that made an impact with those kids. I also read in the news about people in this line of work that retired millionaires. They lived a frugal lifestyle and put as much as they can into investments -- Janitor Millionaires. I thought to myself: "synchronicity has brought me here, there must be a reason". I think that reason is about building a system that compounds over time. It doesn't matter how much you make, but how much resources you have working for you.
Business I Own
As for revenue, I have two: income from this job, and revenue from my youtube channel. As I write this, I have one youtube channel that's monetized. I have a second youtube channel that I am growing, intend to get that monetized by next year. I've decided I have enough to increase my deposits to one-third of revenue.
The other business idea that I'm exploring is this website. I'm not sure what to make of it or which direction to go with this. For now, I use this to outline what the next video would be, the ideas that I'd talk about. I've started several websites in the past but they quietly died for lack of idea to continue, or maybe I did not trust myself enough that it will work. Now that I learned about systems and compounding, I think I have enough material to make this work.
The channel and this website doesn't have to be a success -- one-percent growth is enough. I'm quite pleased with the janitorial work I'm doing. I go to work, clean or do the laundry, go home. I am rostered permanently twice a week: 8 hours on Tuesdays and another 8 hours on Sundays (extra pay). I can pick up extra shifts every week and try to go for at least 3 working days.
On my days off, I head out ride my bike to go fishing and shoot video.
